The APrevent Vocal Implant System (VOIS) will feature in the ‘Treatment of Unilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis with an Intra and Postoperative Adjustable Implant’ satellite symposium at the 14th Congress of the European Laryngological Society (ELS) taking place from June 21-23 in Milan.
Designed for treatment of glottic insufficiency and unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP), the VOIS is used in type I thyroplasty procedures to improve voice quality. The implant system achieves a complete closure of the glottic gap by medialisation of the paralysed vocal fold in its full length. The medical technology is relatively new but is proven to offer reduced complications and revision rates and produces optimised results with fine adjustment.
APrevent, the company that created the device, will deliver the symposium alongside renowned medical professionals Berit Schneider-Stickler, Andreas Müller, Yakubu Karagama and Alexander Mainka.
Owen Pemberton, Commercial Director at DP Medical, said: “The APrevent VOIS is a cutting-edge solution for voice and speech disorders and it’s great to see it feature as part of the programme for the ELS Congress.
"Four highly-regarded healthcare professional colleagues will share their wealth of knowledge and experience in thyroplasty, in a symposium session that will showcase this revolutionary device and the benefits for both staff and patients.
“At DP Medical, we’re pleased to work with laryngologists to provide first-class, specialist equipment, such as the APrevent VOIS, to teams across the country.”
