MediScan: Revolutionising medical imaging

At DP Medical, we are proud to announce the latest advancements to ‘MediScan’, a comprehensive medical imaging solution that has been at the forefront of innovation for over a decade.

Acquired from Polartechnics Ltd, MediScan has continually evolved to meet the needs of clinicians in the gynaecology and forensic specialties throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as further afield, providing a robust tool for diagnosis, data recording, and analysis.

Here, Davian Jessamy, MediScan Team Leader / Senior Software Developer at DP Medical, shares some of the technology’s key features as well as exciting news about its ongoing development.

Cutting-edge features

MediScan stands out with its high-definition, ultra-clear, real-time video recording capabilities, full support for open standards such as Health Level Seven (HL7), seamless integration with hospital systems such as Cyres, and a user-friendly interface.

These features ensure clinicians can securely store and retrieve images, videos, and other data, as well as generate reports and form letters with ease.

And, since its introduction to market, the response from the medical community has been overwhelmingly positive.

Clinicians frequently highlight MediScan’s ease of use, reliability, and exceptional image quality. The intuitive interface significantly reduces training time, allowing professionals to focus more on patient care.

Upcoming technological overhaul

We are excited to announce a major technological upgrade to MediScan’s underlying hardware.

The improvements include a faster i7 processor, better connectivity options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C), doubled disk space, an internal speaker, and the latest Microsoft Windows 11 Pro.

The software enhancements feature a redesigned interface, enhanced encryption mechanisms, and better integration with Electronic Patient Records (EPR) systems.

MediScan also now fully supports the new KC65 2025 cervical screening data capture requirements and complies with DCB0129 clinical risk management accreditation.

Benefits for patients and staff

These updates will bring numerous benefits to both patients and staff, including quicker image and video processing, faster and more flexible data transfer, enhanced data protection, and improved integration with EPR systems, reducing the risk of errors and enhancing data accessibility for medical teams.

Windows 11 Pro also offers improved resource management, making it 30% more power-efficient than Windows 10, with extended support until 2031, compared to Windows 10 which is supported only until October 2025.

New accreditations

The DCB0129 accreditation ensures that MediScan does not introduce risks to patient care and meets NHS and MHRA standards for safe clinical software.

Compliance with the updated 2025 KC65 report specifications further ensures that MediScan meets the latest NHS reporting standards, providing clinicians with confidence in its accuracy and supporting better screening and follow-up processes.
