Meet the Team: Jemma Hible

In our latest Meet the Team Q&A, we put Jemma Hible – our new Theatre and Imaging Territory Manager North – in the hotseat.

What does your role with DP Medical involve?

My role with DP Medical is to be part of a brand-new theatre team and show all our great, innovative products in a theatre environment. These products include VOIS, Trachelator, TubaVent and Chitogel and, alongside these products will be our visualisation range from XION and, for laser surgery, the Medency Blue Laser.

What do you like most about working at DP Medical?

I am excited to have the opportunity to work for a great company and friendly, kind people. To be part of this brand-new theatre division and expanding DP Medical’s innovative product portfolio in a theatre environment is very exciting. I am very proud to see and be a part of DP Medical growing and going from strength to strength.

Where are you based?

I am based at Tankersley in Barnsley but born and bred in Sheffield. I am of course a big Sheffield Wednesday fan, I don’t support the easiest of teams but hopefully brighter times ahead for the blue and white wizards!

Please provide a brief overview of your career history to date

I am in my 23rd year of Medical Sales, I was at my previous company Aesculap (B.Braun Medical Ltd) for 27.5 years, the last 17 years spent in Neurosurgery as a Senior Sales Specialist.

When I started at Aesculap I joined as a PA knowing that I wanted to progress to work in Theatres as a Sales Representative. I worked and studied hard and I gained my first Sales Representative position in the Endoscopy Division selling a range of laparoscopic instruments and camera systems. I then progressed to become a Power Tool Specialist in the Power Division, selling power tools into ENT, Maxiollofacial, Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Departments within an operating theatre environment.

The last 17 years I have worked within the Neurosurgery Division as a Senior Neuro Sales Specialist focusing on hydrocephalus, cranial instrumentation, vascular, endoscopy, microscope and power tools for Neurosurgery. I engaged with customers of all levels in a theatre, clinic and ward environment, also attending key conferences, exhibitions and attending courses with customers in the UK and Europe, and working with key opinion leaders.

What do you like to do outside of work?

My children have very energetic hobbies, my son is a keen footballer and has spent time in a football academy, he plays on a Saturday and a Sunday.

My daughter has a horse and enjoys entering dressage and jumping competitions. My time is mainly watching, being their biggest supporter and been a general pick up for my children. In between this me and my husband like to grab a restaurant when we can and I like to spend time with my friends with a bottomless brunch!

Tell us something not many people will know about you

I like to build flat packs! I have my own tool kit and I love to build, which is a good job as nobody in our house likes it!
