Our B Corp journey: Sustainability in focus

Following our recent B Corp journey updates, outlining how we’re working towards achieving the certification in areas including customer service and people management, Javier Pazos Garcia – DP Medical’s Quality Control and Environmental Manager and the driving force behind DP’s certification process, takes a closer look at the sustainability element of the assessment.

What does the B Corp accreditation look for in terms of sustainability?

This part of the certification process assesses our environmental impact, our carbon footprint and environmental stewardship.

We’re proud to say we’ve already been working hard to reduce the environmental impact of DP Medical and boost the business’s sustainability practices. Once achieved, B Corp Accreditation will prove testimony to this work.

For example, Our Carbon Reduction Plan was unveiled earlier this year, outlining the many initiatives planned or already underway to help us achieve our goals in this area, including:

  • Management systems and sustainable office policies

Since January 2024, we’ve implemented an environmental management system based on the ISO14001 standards.

Across our offices we’ve also introduced sustainable office practices, with a new waste strategy introduced during 2025 across the business.

  • Transition to paperless operations

DP Medical was proud to become a paperless organisation in the majority by the end of 2024, working with electronic systems and formats as well as putting in place new recycling policies across our offices.

  • Fleet review

The fleet used by DP Medical for business purposes is currently under review, with the goal to gradually replace all carbon fuel vehicles with green alternatives.

The company aims to have achieved a 50 percent ratio of green vehicles vs carbon fuelled by the end of 2025.

  • Supplier assessment

We’re also updating our procurement strategy to ensure all suppliers comply with DP Medical’s quality and environmental policy.
