Steven takes on half-marathon challenge for Tourettes Action

Steven Connors, senior territory manager (South London) at DP Medical, is taking on the challenge of the Surrey Half Marathon to raise money for Tourettes Action.

The race takes place on Sunday, March 22 and Steven is aiming to raise more than £1,000 for the charity, which is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to supporting individuals with Tourette syndrome and their families.

Tourette syndrome is a genetically determined neurological condition, the key features of which are tics, involuntary and uncontrollable sounds and movements.

“I’ve always wanted to run a half marathon or marathon,” said Steven. “I’ve been training for around six months now and feel I’m ready. I’m excited to take part and help raise money and awareness for such a great cause which is very close to my heart.

“My stepson Tommy, who is aged twelve, was diagnosed with Tourette’s at the age of seven, so we know first-hand the struggles that come with the condition. Tourette Action has been an incredible source of support, information, and understanding for Tommy and the family.”

Owen Pemberton. managing director of DP Medical, said; “We are really proud of Steven who has committed to this challenge and is really determined to complete it and raise as much money as possible for a charity that quite rightly means a lot to him and his family.

“DP Medical is always looking at ways to give back to the local community and our staff have really got on board with this and are doing lots of exciting things in terms of fundraising for charity or volunteering their time to very important causes. Good luck Steven, the DP team are behind you all the way!”

Steven has set up a JustGiving page for those who would like to support him with a donation: www.justgiving.com/page/steven-connors-1
