DP Medical joins forces with two community causes

Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity (SCHC) and the Surrey Hills Society have been selected by DP Medical – a certified B Corp™ organisation – as the official partners for its staff volunteering programme.

Launched earlier this year, the programme sees DP Medical dedicate 40 days of company time to volunteering for community and charitable causes, with employees encouraged to take part in initiatives arranged in partnership with the two official charity partners.

SCHC provides life-changing and groundbreaking care for patients and families and has an exceptional reputation worldwide.

The charity raises money for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist children’s hospital providing care for children across Yorkshire, the UK, and beyond, and therefore has obvious ties to our extensive work within the healthcare sector.

The Surrey Hills Society is the charitable arm of the Surrey Hills National Landscape and exists to promote the enjoyment and conservation of the Surrey Hills area for those who live, work in, or visit the area.

With our UK headquarters located in Chessington, the Surrey Hills are on our doorstep, so we wanted to partner with a charity to give something back to the area and the community we work in.

During June, many DP Medical employees will be embarking on a mission to support Surrey Hills’ efforts to remove Himalayan Balsam – an invasive species which grows on riverbanks, spreads rapidly and outcompetes native plants.

And, later this year, a team of DP Medical engineers and service team members will be supporting SCHC with the creation of their much-loved giant Christmas snowflakes, helping prepare them for use during the festive season when businesses from around the country sponsor each one.

DP Medical is already well on track to allocate all of its planned volunteering days, with additional fundraising activity and challenges underway, too.

Just recently, the company’s Operations Manager, Kevin Parrish, lent his time to support the ‘Duchenne Dash’ charity bike ride.

Taking place 8-9 May, the event sees cyclists ride from London to Paris in 24 hours, raising vital funds for the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy charity, Duchenne UK.
