“I suppose the first thing to say is that every day for me is different which is why I love my role so much.
“As you can imagine there’s a lot going on, so making sure I’m available has always been something I’m aware of. You don’t know when you’re going to get a call where something is needed urgently or a customer has an important question that needs answering, so keeping abreast of calls and emails is very key in my role, all while travelling the country to visit customers and our team.
“I live in Ipswich, which is in the heart of East Anglia, but cover the whole of the UK with DP, so I get to see lots different and new places on a weekly basis. I can find myself one day in Scotland and then the next day back in London or the South-West. Where I go is dictated by where I can offer the most value to both our customers, as well as our Theatre Team, and the amount of travelling changes from week to week.
“Our Theatre Team is relatively new, so supporting them is a priority and good communication with them is always important, whether that be one-to-one or as a whole group, I’m there to support their day-to-day activities and offer value where it’s needed.
“My goal is to make sure that we are generating as much noise as we can around our brilliant product portfolio. The more people that get to hear what we have to offer is always at the forefront of my day.
“I am heavily invested in this new Theatre division and the team that we have assembled so ensuring that the team are all well and motivated is key.
“Alongside this, due to our fantastic product portfolio, I’m often found in a hospital with customers showcasing the instruments and devices we offer.
“This is another great part of my role that I love. How many people get to see inside surgeries, standing next to the consultant and welcomed into an operating theatre most days! Even now, 25 years on from when I started in this industry, I still know how lucky I am to be given that opportunity.
“ENT was a new speciality for me when joining the business almost two years ago. Most of my experience was working with Laparoscopic surgeons in Gynaecology, Urology and General surgery and then Orthopaedics.
“Learning the nuances of ENT has been fascinating, and the ENT community have been so welcoming allowing me to learn from them faster than I imagined.
“When it comes to driving home, I love switching on the radio for the drive. Talksport is normally the channel of choice due to my love of all things football, however on long journeys the voice of Andrea Bocelli accompanies me home most days - although I can’t speak Italian, so I’m never really sure what he is singing!
“At the end of the day, I genuinely leave work with a sense of real satisfaction.
“Seeing the adoption of our products is always uplifting as they have a real impact on patient outcomes, which means a little bit more knowing this, plus I get to work with a great team of people at DP and I love it here. I’ve been lucky enough to build my own team which has been a great experience as well.”
