DP Medical supports vital ENT work in Rwanda

As part of the company’s ongoing Social Value work, certified B Corp® DP Medical donated specialist ENT equipment to help healthcare professionals deliver patient care and clinical training during a recent visit to the country.

The mission was supported by Rwanda Legacy of Hope, a charity working to improve healthcare and opportunities for communities in Rwanda, bringing UK healthcare professionals together with local clinicians to provide treatment, training and knowledge sharing.

Owen Pemberton, managing director at DP Medical, said: “This year’s charity mission to Rwanda has yet again been a great success and we’re very proud to have played a part in supporting the group’s work through the donation of specialist equipment.

“Working with our suppliers, including Besdata in China who kindly donated reusable endoscopes for the trip, the healthcare professionals who embarked on the mission were able to provide vital ENT services in settings where access to specialist resources can be limited.”

DP Medical donated a range of ENT equipment including reusable video laryngoscopes, a rigid otoscope, an LED medical headlight, POV light handles and Trachealator balloons, all designed to support ENT assessment and treatment.

Kate Heathcote, a consultant laryngologist who took part in the mission, said: “We’re enormously grateful for the support of DP Medical. The equipment provided made a real difference and ensured the success of yet another fantastic charity medical mission.”

DP Medical is committed to supporting healthcare professionals who give their time and expertise to humanitarian projects both in the UK and internationally as part of their commitment to supporting communities. Supporting access to healthcare through equipment donations forms part of the company's wider Social Value Commitment to creating lasting impact in the healthcare sector.
